A How to to Using a Shot List

Why?

Using a shot list becomes easy over time, and it makes your production day(s) much easier and simpler. I use a shot lists instead of story boards, but you can chose to do both, just a story board, or just a shot list. To use a shot list you must have two things. First, you need a shot list template. Second you need to know how to write. I'm pretty sure you can all manage this.

How to use a Basic shot list

The information you need to add to your shot list varies. The key things you want to add to your basic shot list are the shot numbers, shot type/ angle (e.g wide portrait, close portrait....etc), and action. You could use the image next to this paragraph for a basic shot list.

How to use a more inclusive shot list

If you want a more inclusive shot list use this one. For the more inclusive shot list you'll want. Your scene #, shot #, whether it's interior or exterior, shot type, location of the shot, description of the shot, and then any additional comments.

Tips

The shot list right here is the one that I use. However, I don't always fill in all of the blanks.

It's a good idea to have a folder to put your shot lists into. It's nice to have some sort of divider in between your different videos, and then also have each videos shot lists in order of the days of shooting. Remember that when your writing your shot list you want to put the shots in the order you'll shoot, not the order that you'll see in the final edit.

Conclusion

I hope this helps! If you have a better shot list, or any other tips please leave them in the comment section or ask me on twitter @creativevideo12.

The Best Technique/ Tool for Organizing your Time 4 Quadrant Method

Time Management?

Time management is the act or process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity. Time management may be aided by a range of skills, tools, and techniques used to manage time when accomplishing specific tasks, projects and goals complying with a due date.

The Best Technique

The best technique for time management is the 4 quadrant technique  It's pictured right here. But before we can get to this, you'll want a system for uncluttering your mind. Read this for a great easy way to do that

Now that You've finished that we can start on this. The 4 quadrant time management technique is extremely simple, but also extremely effective.

How it Works

As you see in the picture there are four quadrants. You'll want to spend most of your time in quadrant two, if you want to be the most effective. Quadrant two is for important, but not urgent tasks. Such as, planning, preparing, prevention, relationship building, and personal development.

You want to minimize the amount of time you spend in quadrants one and two. You can minimize the amount of items in your quadrant one by spending time in quadrant two, planning for those deadlines, and other issues. The only thing you can't really plan for in quadrant one is emergencies.

To minimize the time spent in quadrant three resist the urge to pick up the phone while your in the middle of something. Don't read all of the forwarded email's you get. Quadrant three is difficult, because we think that the items are urgent, when they're really not.

If you want to be the most effective person you can be, then you defiantly don't want to be spending time in quadrant four. Quadrant four is not urgent, not important stuff. Such as, watching TV, playing games, some texting and phone calls, and other time wasters.

Conclusion

Good luck with your endeavors for better time management  If you have anything to add please share it in the comments below. If you enjoyed it you can subscribe by email for more.

The Best and Only Real way to Break Habits

What is a Habit?

hab·it

Noun
A settled or regular tendency or practice, esp. one that is hard to give up.

Habits have three parts. The first part is a queue. This is like a trigger that initiates the habit. The second part is routine. This is the actual habit. The third part is the reward. This is whatever you gain from participating in the habit. To break these habits you must focus on the main components. The main components are steps 1 and 3. These steps shape what the routine is.

How to break it

There are two steps to breaking a habit. The first step is to place something in front of you that gives initiative. For instance, if I was trying to stop smoking, I would replace my cigarette packs with gum. The second step is to then chew that gum instead of smoking. The third step is rewarding yourself for following through. This can something as simple as a piece of chocolate.

Key

The key to following this plan and breaking your habit is to divide up your habit into it's three parts. Then replace the first part with something that will initiate you do what you want. Then replace the second step with what you want to be doing instead. And finally give yourself a small reward for completing the first two steps.

Starting a New Habit

The same thing applies if you just want to start a new habit. Divide it into it's three parts. Then make sure you put in what you need to be doing for the first two steps. If you follow through on the first two steps give yourself a small reward.

Conclusion

After you break you habit please share the experience with others in the comments. Good luck!

Organizing your Life's Schedule. The Best and most effective way!

Key and First Step

The key and first step to getting your life's schedule in order is to dump everything you think of into
your inbox. Your inbox is a sheet of paper where you write down everything that you need to do. This is good because you can clear your mind of trying to remember everything that needs to get done.

Second Step

The second step is organizing your inbox. There are three places you can put the items. The first place you can put your items is on a calender. Use this for when you need to be somewhere, or doing something at a specific time. The second place you put these items is on a task list. You can have more than one task list. A good task list would be something like a shopping list. The third category for these items is a project list. A project list is any task that involves more than one step, such as building up a YouTube channel, or building a blog. To properly add a project you must write down all of the steps to complete it. For instance, if you were adding "building a YouTube channel" then it would look like this.

Project- Build Successful YouTube Channel

3. Share your YouTube channel with your friends
4. Share on Social Media sites like Twitter, Google+, and Facebook

Third Step

Once you've placed all of the items from your inbox into their proper categories you'll feel a sigh of relief. The third step is to follow through with it. Keep dumping your ideas into your inbox and then sorting them. Also, make sure that you are completing the tasks and not letting them build up.

The Best way to use Reddit for Advertising

What is Reddit?

Reddit is a social news and entertainment website. It was founded by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian in June of 2005. It is owned by a private company, Advance Publications, and they currently employ 20 people. There slogan is "The front page of the internet"

How to use it?

When your posting to reddit for advertising purposes you must tread carefully. Most redditers do not like others posting for personal gain. When your posting something don't say, "hey check out this video that I made." or anything like that. In the title just let people know what the video, or post is about.
Once you've posted it, try and get your friends to upvote it. It helps if your in a smaller subreddit. For instance, instead of posting your video in the video subreddit, post it in the filmmaker subreddit.

The best time to post your link is in the morning between 6 and 8. The faster you get your friends and family to upvote it the higher it will rise. This way when people are checking their reddit feeds in the morning, they'll see your post.

Conclusion/ Summary

The first thing you need to do is come up with an interesting title describing your link. Second, you need to find a subreddit that's small, but not to small. Third you need to wait until between 6 and 8 in the morning. Fourth, you need to tell are your friends and family to upvote it.

Good luck! Hopefully I'll see one of your posts. If you have anymore suggestions leave them in the comments.

Enhance Your Views: A way to get free Youtube views, twitter followers, facebook likes, and reddit upvotes

What is it?

Enhance your views is a website that allows you to earn credits to use on their site. I would only advise using it when your first starting out, and trying to get traffic to whichever medium your interested in.

How?

You can make credits by just simply letting it run in your browser. If your planning on using it for a YouTube video. Don't have the video monetized. You might get banned. Like I said earlier, I wouldn't use this all the time, just in the very beginning to gain traction.

Conclusion

Enhance your views is a great site for gaining traction in your area, or areas. If you have a better site please share.

The Five Tenets of TaeKwonDo and Filmmaking

What are the Five Tenets of TaeKwonDo?

They are,

Courtesy

Integrity

Perseverance

Indomitable Spirit

Self-Control

Some of the greatest ancient warriors based their lives on these 5 principles. You as a filmmaker, or marketer can and should do the same. In the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" the author writes that you should base your life off of principles. These are the principle that you should use.

Courtesy - The showing of politeness in one's attitude and behavior towards others.

You should be kind and polite to the people you work for, or the people who work for you.

Integrity - Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code

Don't do something that you don't believe in. Don't make a marketing plan for a company who's morals you strongly disagree with. Filmmakers, don't make movies, or videos for things you don't believe in.

Perseverance - Steady persistence in adhering to a course of action, a belief, or purpose

Don't give up! If something isn't working keep working on it. If it still doesn't happen, find a different way to meet your goal.

Indomitable Spirit - Cannot be subdued or overcome, will never give up and keeps trying.

Again, never give up! Always keep trying to get where you want to be, then keep going.

Self-Control - The ability to control one's emotions, behavior, and desires

Keep your emotions in check when somethings goes wrong. Don't get mad, yell, scream, and throw things. That will never accomplish anything, other than destroying things.
