The 4 steps of teams

There are four steps that every team goes through. They are forming, storming, norming and performing. Every team from a t-ball team to seal team 6 go through these four teams. If you are a team leader it is crucial to know what stage your team is in.

Forming

This is the first stage. Everybody is happy and wanting to learn everything there is to know. They have just formed as a team.

Storming

This is the second stage. Everyone's morale are running low. Things are becoming just hard unorganized work.

Norming

This is the third stage. Everyone's morale is starting to rise. The team is starting to get into a pattern. Jobs are becoming easier, and everyone is getting along better.

Performing

This is the final stage. Everyone is excited to be there. Everyone is in a pattern. Everyone knows what to do and how to do it.

These are the four stages. As a leader you want to always be assessing where your team is. Just because your team is in the performing stage one day, doesn't mean they will be there the next day. Same goes for all the stages.

Starting a Successful Lawn Mowing Business

I make between $20 and $40 an hour from mowing lawns. It's hard to get the ball rolling in the beginning, but once you have your customers it's all downhill. Here are some tips for starting a successful summer lawn mowing business.

Okay so the first thing you have to do is get your customers. You'll want to cut a lot cheaper than the professional mowers around you. For me $20 dollars for a normal residential lawn is a good price to ask. Make sure that you know how to mow, and if you can offer to trim or blow for the same price you'll get rid of some of your competition.

The next thing you have to do, after getting your customer, is satisfying them through the entire summer. This can be hard sometimes, depending on the customer. Make sure that you do a good job every time. Not just when you think they're watching, because they see the lawn everyday. Make sure you talk to your customer. Ask them if your doing everything they want done.

This is the painful topic. Paying for gas and equipment. Paying for equipment counts new machinery and repairing the old stuff. I paid for all that stuff by mowing my parents lawn for free. This is a sweet way to go about it. Another way to do it would be to split it half and half with your parents.

Now after the season has ended make sure that you let your customers know to keep you in mind for next year, if you plan on mowing next year.

The Best Teen Job

I have tried and tested this job, along with many others. This is by far the best money maker you can have as a teen. What is that job? That job is lawn mowing. Yep, lawn mowing! If you have a mower this can be the quickest way to make some pretty easy cash.

I make between $20 and $40 an hour from mowing lawns. It's hard to get the ball rolling in the beginning, but once you have your customers it's all downhill. Here are some tips for starting a successful summer lawn mowing business. Don't make the same mistakes I made!

Okay, so the first thing you have to do is get your customers. You'll want to cut cheaper than the professional mowers around you. For me $20-$25 dollars for a normal residential lawn is a good price to ask. For that price I mow, trim, edge, and blow.

The next thing you have to do, after getting your customer, is satisfying them through the entire summer. This can be hard sometimes, depending on the customer. Make sure that you do a good job every time. Not just when you think they're watching, because they see the lawn everyday. Make sure you talk to your customer. Ask them if you're doing everything they want.

This is the painful topic. Paying for gas and equipment. The price for maintaining equipment includes buying new stuff, repairing the old stuff. I worked out a deal with my parents to do this. I mowed their lawn for free and they pay for equipment maintenance. This is a sweet way to go about it. Another way to do it would be to split it half and half with your parents.

After the season has ended make sure that you let your customers know to keep you in mind for next year, if you plan on mowing next year.

It's not Always Good to be the Busiest

Wanting to be the busiest person is never a good route to go when trying to time manage. It makes
you stretch out things that don't need to have that much time allotted. This will force you into losing time with friends and family.

The best way to avoid this terrible pit fall is by not using being the busiest person as a bragging right. Instead, if you have to brag, brag about how quickly you got all of your work down. If you look at my blog you'll see a bunch of posts on time management

Next time your about to brag about how busy your are, stop yourself! Instead talk about something positive, like how well your keeping up with your work. Don't out misery people!

The Best Supplement for an Athlete on a Low Carb Diet

Okay so your an athlete and your trying to compete while your on a low carb diet. I too tried this. It's not easy. One of the things that I did to help myself, was take a slow burning carb to fill my glycogen stores. It's made by a company called generation UCAN

They make a pre-workout shake that contains 50 carbs. This isn't your normal carb, it is an improved carb. It is starch based and it doesn't spike your insulin. They also make a post workout protein shake. This has 20 carbs to replenish your glycogen stores. It is the same starch based carb that is in the pre-workout shake.

If you want more information just visit their site. I hope this helped! Please share this with anybody you think this will benefit. Leave a comment(s) with any questions.

Taking on a Big House Organizing Job

Are you trying to take on a big Organizing job? Of course you are! You are reading this.

Alright let's say that your big project is organizing your closet. The first thing you have to do is
throw everything out. All of it! Now your going to have to piles. A few good piles to make are these. 1. Garbage 2. Give away 3. Keep.

Okay so you've gotten rid of all the garbage. And you've given away everything your not going to use anymore. Now you have to organize the third pile. Pick the different categories you want. Now put your things into those piles.

The last part is putting this stuff away. This is mostly trial and error. Pick where you want to put things. Check and see what fits where. If you want it to look good make sure you spend some time here. Once you know where everything goes, put it there. Now your closet is clean.

This same process applies for basically everything. I hope this helped! Please share this with anybody you think this will benefit. Leave a comment(s) with any questions.

Low Carb Dieting part 1

This is hopefully the first of many posts on low carb dieting. For this post I'm just going to talk about how awesome a low carb diet is and giving an overview. I also have some great books on the subject listed below.

First, what is a low carb diet? A low carb diet basically goes against all common and widespread
knowledge about dieting, but it has the most science behind it. Learn more about that in the books below. I love my low carb diet. I lost 10 pounds in the first two weeks on it. Keep in my mind that I was doing the extreme version of it, and only eating 20 carbs a day. If you want to just be on a low carb diet here is all you have to do. Eat 75 carbs a day, or less. DON'T eat any SUGAR. You can eat artificial sweeteners like splenda. Make sure you also eat protein. Feel great! It's that simple. Let me know in the comments how much weight you lose in the first 2 weeks.

Here is a list of books you can read if you want to learn more. I will be doing more posts on this subject. I race bicycles, so I also know the sports side of this diet. Anyhow, here are the books.

Taubes, Gary. Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It. Reprint. Anchor, 2011. (This is the short version of the below book Good Calories, Bad calories. It is by far the best place to start)

Phd Stephen D Phinney MD, and Rd Jeff S Volek Phd. The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living. Lexington, KY: Beyond Obesity, LLC, 2011.

Taubes, Gary. Good Calories, Bad Calories: Fats, Carbs, and the Controversial Science of Diet and Health.  Random House Digital, Inc., 2008.
